Woodworking Tips from Pop…

Another one of our innovative creations is this French inspired mantel.

Designed on a scrap block of wood in about 15 minutes during the construction of this home, this master bedroom beauty has enough charm and masculinity for even the most discerning couple. (The block of wood was Pops’ idea)

  This is how easy a lot of our design sessions will go when our customers know what they want. A well informed customer can sometimes make all the difference in whether a job is profitable or not. In fact, the reason I started this site was to inform and educate customers on the various aspects of our work. (Hopefully this endeavor will make my job and life a little easier!)

 Its’ handcrafted features include custom corbels, raised hearth, decorative moldings and hand carvings that blend effortlessly with almost any interior design style.  

We carved the corbels out of solid 6”x 6” basswood using hand routers and a multitude of jigs for this operation. Everything except the hand carvings and decorative moldings were manufactured in our shop. The moldings come from Decorators Supply, an old company that’s been around for over a hundred years specializing in all kinds of great stuff for furniture and design.

This mantels’ luxurious appeal has been a favorite with our customers and their designers over the years. The mantel itself might change a little from customer to customer, but the style pretty much stays the same.
