Building a custom bar…..Page 1

Today we started on a bar that finds its inspiration from the old Gaslight clubs of Chicago. A chain of night clubs in the 1950’s that gave inspiration to Hugh Heffner’s famous Playboy clubs. These Cad drawings below are just the start of a series of post I will be doing on the construction of this bar. In the view box click on the green arrow for a clearer view of the drawings.

The bar will be built out of solid cherry, cherry plywood and birch plywood. The solid cherry will be for the bar tops, moldings, face frames, and raised panels on the cabinet doors, while the cherry plywood will be used for making the backing for the arches. ¼” cherry plywood will also be used in the front panels on the bar front. The birch plywood will be used strictly for the building of the cabinet boxes.

One of this bars very unique features is that it’s built to sit guest on both sides of the bar and give easy access to all the accessories on the back bar. A kind of serve yourself bar. Some other features of this bar include.

Kegerator
Wine Cooler
Dishwasher
Ice Maker
Sink
