Building a custom bar…..Page 2
The very first course of action in building this bar is the layout of the lower cabinetry on the back bar. This is done using a homemade story pole that keeps track of all the dimensions for the appliances, face frames and any other type of measurement. This stick will be the lifeline of this bar over the next few weeks or months.
Plywood sides with dados for the bottom shelf and for the drawer supports are ready to be assembled. I wish there was more time for pictures of this operation, but Pop was pushing to get these cabinets assembled.
Dado joinery is used in the construction of all our cabinetry, from bars to simple vanities
Here is a photo of the bottom boxes all assembled together with the story pole on top ready to double check. It’s always good practice to double and sometimes triple check the measurements on the story pole with the ones on the cabinets. If there is any type of issue that needs correcting, now is that time.
I know they don’t look like much now. Cad drawing of back bar

Next will be the making of the upper cabinets for the back bar along with the face frames and drawers
